Enironmental Info Center (Updated weekly - follow up on asdd-blog)

Since the whole world now is feeling how badly our daily activities are affecting our environment, asdd-engineering.com will highlight how to be green and environmental friend...

Around the world, it is hard to implment environmental impact matrix on contractors and in the middle east is likely harder. However, asdd-eng will provide in this section in downloadable files explaining how can you limit those impacts on where we live (Environment)...

Research Title: Construction Waste Management

Download full research from here

Abstract

Management of construction wastes is one of the environmental aspects of construction projects. In addition, this aspect becomes more important every day when a new construction site starts digging the foundations.

Generally, the traditional way of discard the wastes are landfills which are now one of the most difficult problems in the world because it has been doubled within only the last 3 years.

Furthermore, the new methods developed are applied on the more developed regions because the workers are qualified and well trained to be involved in the wastes management. Also, the engineers must consider in their plans how they are going to dispose the waste environmentally in safe way.

In this research, we spot some lights on that issue from civil engineering point of view by recognizing the amount of wastes, reasons to manage them, methods of management, and environmental impacts of those wastes.

Introduction

Managing the construction waste becomes recently one of the most important environmental issues. Moreover, the world construction, in general, increased tremendously throughout the last 5 years and that increased cause another environmental impact which is the remains or the construction waste like bolts, wood dust, nails, unused concrete, and so on, where do we discard them and how is the question.

In fact, recently if you just go to any web site and search for construction waste management you will find that most of the web sites appeared will be companies specialized in that area which proves the importance of that issue around the world.

In this research, the following points will be discussed:

  1. Waste Amounts & types
  2. Why construction waste management
  3. Environmental impacts
  4. Methods of management
  5. Conclusion and recommendation
  6. References
  7. Appendix (World Trade Center)

These outlines will be the main sections to the research. Firstly, identifying the amounts and types of wastes and their cost either in handling or in recycling is an important issue which considered in the project budget. Besides that, showing the reasons for such action is clarified. Secondly, the contemporary methods used and the suggested will be discussed. Finally, the conclusions and recommendations will be made.

Eventually, the idea of construction waste management was applied for only how to get rid off wastes and through them in the junk yard. However, today recycling the some of the construction waste evolved up due to the technology improvements.

At the end of this report the world trade center recycling will be briefly discussed in the appendix.
